Programmed Itinerary

DAY 01.- Transfer from Seville to Grazalema. Meeting point for all group is Santa Justa Rail Terminal or the airport at 17:00. Accommodation.

Day 02.-LA CASA DEL DORNAJO RUOTE (from Grazalema- to Benaocaz). Early in the morning we begin this route by leaving the village through the highest point where we find a path that goes up until Endrinal port. Then, after a gentle slope, we start a new ascent to Las Presillas old way where we will see different snow pools. From the highest point of this mountain we continue to Casa del Dornajo, a peaceful and magic place where we could see the first quejigos (andalucian oaks) and holm oaks forest together with green meadows adorned with Grazalema’s orchids and poppies. We will also contemplate rich fauna, among which griffon vulture and Spanish ibex stand out from the rest. The track goes down through Fardela’s Valley until it crosses Pajaruco’s stream. We reach Benaocaz small village by crossing its nazari neighbourhood with its typical stone road. The track takes between 6and 7 hours. Accommodation.

DIA 03.- CABREROS ROUTE (from Benaocaz- to Grazalema). Today we will go back to Grazalema by using a different way: Salto del Cabrero. We will depart from the village through an ancient stone bridge as to slope up crossing San Fernando mountain pass among acebuches (andalusian oaks) and wetlands where small birds, as great tit, find food. Once we cross the pass, we will see the astonishing Salto del Cabrero: vertical rocks of more than 100 m high separated by one fault. At this point, we may contemplate griffon vultures gliding over us. We will continue along a gentle path until Boyar pass, among meadows and country houses where several goatherds collect milk from their herds. Finally, we reach again Grazalema through Los Charcones old way, after 6 to 7 hours walking. Accommodation.

DAY 04.- RONDA-SPELEOLOGY. Today we will do other activities apart from walking. We will visit the historical town of Ronda and we’ll explore the depths of one of the caves that surround the town. We’ll take our car in the morning and after a short distance we will reach the centre of the famous town where we will stroll through the historical centre. We will visit the oldest bullring in Spain and "El Tajo” formed by the Guadalevin River, giving its characteristic profile. In the afternoon, we will make the activity of caving. The cave has several entrances that fit, both for beginners and the more daring. We will explore, by using ropes, the galleries until a crystal clear water spring. This activity is suitable for everyone In the afternoon we will go to Zahara de la Sierra, one of the nicest villages in Andalucía. Accommodation

DIA 05.- PINSAPAR PATH (Reserved and Protected Area). Total walking distance today is around 16km, at the beginning, going along a path, and from Pine forest Pass on using a rural track until Benamahoma. We start ascending the steepest part of the track until reaching Las Cumbres port (1280 m.) During the ascent appears at Sierra del Pinar’s northern slope, impressive, El Pinsapar (the Spanish fir). On the left we take “Los Pinsapos way”, ancient path used by rural people, viajes grazalema 3 which immediately goes down San Cristóbal peak (1555 m.). We continue walking until finding the first pinsapos, a fir specie that grows only up 1000 m and that it is consider as an authentic living fossile. Pinsapos used to cover mediterranean basin during Tertiary period. Once we leave El Pinsapar, we descend to the lovely village of Benamahoma, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon, we will go on to El Bosque along Majaceite river, among former flour mills and lush vegetation: poplars, willows and ash trees. This route takes between 7 to 8 hours. DAY 06.- BUITRERAS (Griffon Vultures nests) ROUTE (from Garganta Verde to Reserve Area). We begin with an approach hiking among the impressive vertical walls that shelter the most important griffon vulture colony in Andalusia. We will slowly go down through the ravine to Bocaleones stream, and surrounded by a flush vegetation, we walk along the river bed until we reach a huge cave, la Ermita, plenty of stalactites and stalagmites. From this point the most active part of the route will begin: series of rappels, jumps above 4 m, natural chutes and flying foxes that will lead us along the river bed, crossing deep pools and unbelievable geologic shapes until we discover a crystal clear water spring that comes from the rock. Here we will start the aquatic part of the canyon, walking with the rucksack up as the water could reach our waist. You can do this activity if you are able to swim; previous experience in this activity is not required.

LAST DAY.- Free until 15:00. During this morning you could stroll around the village. The village declared Protected Heritage with its Nazaries walls or its charming and old churches. You could finish the day swimming in one of the beaches surrounding the Zahara-Gastor dam. We will arrive to Seville at 18:00.
